How Does Tattoo Removal Work?
The immune system views tattoo ink as a foreign substance, similar to dirt or bacteria, and slowly attacks it over time. That’s why tattoos fade, distort, and discolor.
Traditional Q-Switched lasers heat up and melt tattoo ink, making it easier for the body to absorb and metabolize over 6-8 weeks. This process lightens the tattoo’s appearance.
Each laser treatment breaks down the particles even more until the tattoo is fully absorbed. This can typically take between 10-15 treatments.
